It looks like Nintendo is continuing to move their focus from the Wii in favor of the Wii U and it’s nifty touch screen controller.  They have recently announced that they will be shutting down some of their online channels on the Wii as of 28 June 2013.  The affected channels will include: Forecast Channel, News Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, Nintendo Channel and the Check Mii Out Channel.

While these channels themselves may not really seem like all that big of a deal Nintendo has also announced that data exchange between Wii friends on the WiiConnect 24 will also no longer be supported.  This means that message exchanges on the Wii Message Board, Mii exchanges on the Mii Channel, and data/message exchange in some game titles will cease to function. So who’s upset by this slimming of Wii online services and what do you think will be going next?
