Apparently Levine should have kept silent regarding a handheld version of BioShock, as it took him a while to finally admit that the game’s development hadn’t even started.

That was just the beginning of bad news for those hoping to see BioShock on the Vita, however, as Irrational Games has recently suffered some layoffs. Now a 2K Games rep has cleared things up has said that there’s “no update” on the game. In other words, don’t keep your hopes up.

If you’re still dying to play BioShock on your Vita, maybe this quote from Levine in 2012 will keep you optimistic:

“It’s something I’m still interested in and people ask me that all the time. Right now, I’m just sort of waiting to see what the business people come up with, and that’s sort of out of my hands at this point. That’s something that I think has a lot of potential. The game idea we have has a lot of potential. It’s just a question of [if] their stars all align.”

Do you think BioShock will ever make it to the Vita?
