If you're fortunate enough to have a valid UDID that allows you to test beta  versions of iOS, you may want to check out your portal now. As of right now, the third installment of the 6.1 beta series is available for you to download and tinker around with to test and retest any apps you may be making. Still, maybe what's more interesting is that there is indeed a tethered jailbreak available already for pre-A5 based iDevices.

Before we get to the jailbreak stuff, let's first talk about the actual firmware first. The list of features certainly isn't all that stunning, and even Apple realizes this by simply saying it includes "bug fixes and other improvements" but with a little bit more careful probing some talented devs have given us a slightly closer look at what can be found in the update. For one, the way Passbook handles boarding passes has been improved, slight tweaks to Safari have been made, and a few additional APIs for Apple Maps should now be usable for those looking to make applicable apps. If you want it you must be a developer, but should you meet those credentials you should see beta 3 as a standalone and over the air update.

Now for the jailbreak. As the old bootroom exploit continues to work, sources have very quickly confirmed that should you want it there is a tethered option available that will work on the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and Fourth Generation iPod Touch models. All you need to do is install the latest RedSn0w and point the program to the official 6.0 update while you continue the same old process of getting into DFU mode to jailbreak.

I will once again note that this is a tethered jailbreak, so that means you will not be able to reboot your device without having your computer handy. Should this idea still sound good to you, you can check out a pretty solid tutorial with a video here if you need it.  Happy jailbreaking!
