First Rise of the Silver Surfer details

IGN’s Chris Carle, who was able to play an early build of 2K Games‘ upcoming title Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer at Friday’s New York Comic Con, has revealed a few bit of information about the game. Read on for the details.

Apparently, the game puts even stronger emphasis on teamwork and combo moves. In order to pass each level, players will have to split time with each of the teammates, since certain puzzles require different hero powers to pass them. Some enemies can also only be killed by a specific team member’s powers.

The game also adds a few RPG-style features to the mix. Not all of the Fantastic Four’s powers will be available at the outset, and players must earn experience points to unlock some of the more devastating moves. Just like in any team-based RPG, judicious use of each character is key to keeping them balanced XP-wise.

On to the controls. Carle reports that the controller is used to enhance special attacks throughout the game. An example is the Thing’s overhead smash move. To perform this move, the user pulls down the remote and nunchuk in a fist-smashing motion, causing the big guy to thump the ground. The harder the double-punch, the more damage you cause. The Wiimote can also be used to select different teammates in the midst of a fight.

Both the Wii and PS2 versions of the game support up to four-player coop (the PS2 version needs a multitap). Players can also choose to go solo and just switch between fighters as the need arises.
