Apple Patents “New” Method of Wireless Charging

Like many other tech companies, Apple is notorious for sending out tons and tons of patents to the patent office. In the past, we have seen mentions of some pretty crazy devices like the iPen and even the iCar, but chances are a good chunk of the stuff that actually winds up on that paper won't ever  actually see the light of day. When it comes to this industry, filing patents more or less just makes sure that nobody else can ever steal your idea. That being said, Apple's latest charging method does come pretty close to that.

It's no secret that wireless charging has been on the minds of people for quite some time now. In this age of light computers and high powered  phones, it seems somewhat strange that we must remain so tied down with wires when it comes to power our devices. With how quickly phones deplete battery life these days, wouldn't it be great if we could charge things up while the phone was nestled safely in our pocket?

Taking on the immense potential behind that idea, conglomerates like The Alliance for Wireless Power have been working towards a solution like this for generations. Both Apple and Samsung had indeed been working together as a part of this group to create something that would forever change the way we use devices. However it seems Apple has somewhat beaten their teammates to the punch by sending out their own patent. By specs it's almost identical to what has previously be discussed, so what's the difference! Whey the distance of course! Supposedly this "new" method of doing things can reach as far as one meter. In addition, the service works "over the air" rather than anything related to "close proximity" like the other guys.

There you go again Apple, revolutionizing the world over.
