Next-Gen Consoles are On the Way |

We’ve been talking a bit about the rumors swirling around Microsoft’s new “Loop” console, and I recently wrote a PoV post about whether it was time for the PlayStation 4. While most commenters seemed to think I was jumping the gun, things look a little different over at Sony studios.

Once again, my Photoshop skills are beyond reproach.
According to a story by Edge, Ubisoft Montreal is already working on titles using “target boxes,” which are systems built to the same specifications imagined for the new Xbox. Game development is well underway for the new console, though games media and gamers won’t have much to go on until the official announcement next year. EA is also reported to have access to the tech – Mass Effect 4, anyone?
As for the PS4, Edge reports that one of the larger Sony studios is no longer developing games for PS3 and has shifted its focus to PS4 development. The same studio apparently helped develop the graphics tech used by the “hypothetical” new system. Both companies are likely trying to land their console first, with the 360’s early launch and lower price point landing it far ahead of the PS3, which is still lagging slightly behind.
Edge is speculating that we may see both systems release next year, but that sounds a bit early. What do you think? Is 2012 the year of next-gen, or will it be a one-year head start for Wii U?

Most rumours in the gaming industry turn out to be leaks or just true and this isnt exactly far fetched.

PS Vita, I might consider.
One thing people haven't realized is that consoles even before they're out their hardware is outdated, so it'll never be better than on PC's.

That is a stupid comment really, how many idiots will pay over a grand for a graphics card just to be up to date?. how many pc games are better in anyway other than better graphics? just the fact that the hardware differs in pcs so much helps the consoles case, never mind price or convenience.

In fact, even better than on Blu-ray, 'cos the game runs off the hard disk, which means, it's faster loading.
Unreliability? You're a bit too much of a PS3 fanboy aren't you? Both my consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360 have given no problems at all, so that bs about 360 not being reliable, is just a bunch of bullcrap.

But if it ends up being like 3DS, forget it!
