Microsoft changes XBLIG limits in new year |
Listed in: Xbox Live Tags: Microsoft, MSDN, xbla, xblig

XBLA hosts a wide range of games but more often than not unless you're a big games developer you tend not to have a great understanding on how Independent Developers work and how little money they have. But it looks like some of that has changed this year with more options added to the XBLIG terms.
Announced on the MSDN blog, Microsoft have made the CCGame size maximized from 150MB to 500MB, but only when it comes to bundles and anything published on the App Hub. Also new limits have been added to the 80 point games. The requirement for tiny games was 50MB and now gone up to 150 (as the new limit) and can be sold for 240 or 400 points.
Also any devs who want to throw more than one game on the XBLA or XBLIG currently has the chance to have more than 8 games on Indie Games. Now they've raised it to ten, so you know if you wanted to develop apps for their store or for their Windows 7.
I honestly think after the fiasco Microsoft was dealt last year with developers leaving for Steamier pastures they have tried to win back some of the audience. Also, it doesn't hurt that they're developing for smartphones and are looking for app and game developers.
Either way, Happy Developing to those who try it out for XBLA and XBLIG
