Alan Wake: American Nightmare Will Have More Action |

The spooky atmosphere of Alan Wake didn't exactly lend itself to running and gunning, but all of that will change in its Xbox Live Arcade follow-up, says developer Aki Jarvilehto. In an interview with Eurogamer, the VP of Remedy Entertainment said that fans wanted more "in-your-face action" and more variation in the form of different types of enemies and weapons. Sounds like some may have missed the point of Alan Wake, but hey I guess the devs have to appeal to a larger market. Let's hope it's not too watered down.
This trailer shows us that the flashlight and gun combo will still be in effect, but Jarvilehto says there will a new mode called "Fight 'til Dawn" that is another variant on Gears of War's Horde mode in which you have to fight off waves of attackers. It's not completely unprecedented for the franchise, as there was a similar scene in the first game.
What do you think? Is this going to ruin Alan Wake or will you give it a fair shake? Alan Wake: American Nightmare is due out in the first quarter of 2012.
