Rockstar Games, the studio behind the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead franchises, has released 12 new screenshots for L.A. Noire, their upcoming mystery title.

L.A. Noire takes place in Los Angeles, California during the year 1947. With this new game, Rockstar is aiming at a level of realism never before seen in a video game, with incredibly realistic looking character models and environments. L.A. Noire draws many influences from film noir of the 40s and 50s, depicting a detective uncovering a murder mystery. Many other elements of film noir will also be present in the game, including the femme fatale.

L.A. Noire releases on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on May 17, 2011.

You think it is creepy because the characters look realistic for the first time ever. They used some kind of tracker to map real actor's faces. Real life people are creepier :P
