Microsoft Continues Kinect Push at E3 2011 |
Listed in: Opinions & Analysis Tags: e3, kinect, Microsoft, Phil Spencer
Sometime in the future, all first party Microsoft Games will use Kinect. At least that's the line coming out of the technology giant's E3 showing, with Head of Miscrosoft Games Phil Spencer telling Gamespot:
"It’s not a mandate that everything we do in first-party has to support Kinect right now. But I will say, specifically with voice, that there are some things that just seem to make navigating and playing games so much easier, that I would guess the answer will be yes in the end, that you’ll see all first-party games using some form of Kinect functionality.”
Kinect has been available to consumers for less then a year, but is seems Microsoft is more then happy with its reception. E3 2011 has shown us that the Kinect can also add value to traditionally controlled games as part of the overall package.
How this effects other developers remains to be seen, with many companies like EA Sports pondering how to include the device in their traditional games rather then create low value tack ons or mini games.
