Xbox Live has been the greatest online gaming service since its launch. Xbox 360 has taken the advantage of it by combining it with more functions and features. However, it seems Microsoft will be doing much more on it. According to internet reports from Norwegian website IT Avisen, Microsoft has been working on a major Xbox Live update, including bug fixes, tweaks and etc. Functions such as background downloading, webcams support, is said to be added in this update.

hes talking bout private chat. you can have like 5 people join the room but u can only talk to one person at a time. to talk to the other yous have to hit the guide button then go to private chat and select the other person which is really dumb

How about the ability to...
- remove people that you've met.
- permenantly ban gamertags from your sight.
- advance menuing. When you select 'Play Now' you play now, not navigate to another screen asking to 'Play Now' again.
- correct catagorization of items, i.e. demos, trailers, etc...
- wtf is up with the select profile when deleting items....

Also how about the ability to....
- Preview marketplace items instead of a looking at a BIG BANNER that gives you no clue to what your buying.
- Get an accurate percentage rate when downloading items.
- Turn on and off the gay ass banners; like I want to look at Fightnight banners when I have not interest in that genre.
- Select genre of banners to be displayed.
- Make my game history private or public, what if I don't want someone to compare their games to me?
- Get weather forecasts.
- Listen to SHOUTCAST.COM radio stations while playing games.

hmmm download hexic HD? have i missed something? And your gamer history can be made private. Its in the privacy settings. Only 1s i wud like is download rate and accurate percentage and download while playin games.

Also how about the ability to...
- Have music playing in the back ground a GLOBAL option and not have to be turned back on after every change made; i.e. switch between games.
- Randomize the music selectrion from a music source.

now another thing xbox live market place charges 800 points to change your gamer tag why not charge 800 point to have 150 or 200 people in your friend list...

The things they need to sort out are:
- The chat system (already covered above), both connecting to the 1 on 1 chats can be very difficult and alternating between different chat members is ridiculous. Both need to be fixed.
- The downloading system - Accurate download percentages (not that that is really crucial, it is adequate as it is). What really needs to be sorted is allowing game demos etc. to download in the background whilst you play arcade games or something! I hate having to sit there doing nothing as they download... I WANT TO PLAY ON MY 360!!
- The catagories on the marketplace (already covered) - They are really crap and can be difficult (especially for newbies) to navagate around.
- If you were dumb enough to either delete Hexic or buy a Core 360 then yeah they should put it on the marketplace... But they should charge you points for being so stupid!
Weather forcasts is a bit of a weird request lol... i think i'd be able to control my disappointment if they didn't include that.
Microsoft should also consider updating the main user interface. I don't like the way the theme setup is accessed through the middle 'x' button on the pad and not through the setup menu. Also I don't know if this affects anyone else, but I hate the way you can only load 100 songs off an ipod onto the 360 at a time. If I want a song or artist beginning with a letter from 'c' through to 'z' it can take up to 20 minutes for me to get there!!
Anyways i'll stop moaning now! Other than these few annoyancies I love my 360 to bits :)

I may be missing something but what about FAST FORWARD or REWIND for music and downloaded videos?
I don't see that feature and would love it.

How about streaming videos without needing windows media centre. Also the ability to stream different kinds of videos like divx.

How come I can't play a video off of my usb hard drive. I can play music and photos but no videos? Why?
Sure, there may be certain standards, got it. Tell me the standard and I will opt in. Just like the PSP, they let me play my own video, as long as it's in the compatible standard.
So, why can't the 360 play mpeg, or mpeg 2 files? Or any video files other than downloaded ones?]

Why is streaming or even watching video such a big thing? You must all have pc's anyway as you're posting or reading the articles on here. I don't understand why your pc isn't good enough to play video on?
I think microsoft only allowed you to put images and music onto the 360 because they are the only forms of media that are any use on the conosle; images for backgrounds and menus etc, and music to listen to whilst playing games. There is no need for watching videos on it is there?! Don't you agree?

Yeah, your right. I certainly don't want to watch an mpeg or even some ripped Mpeg 2 or a converted Divx if I should be watching a DVD quality, especially on a 60" HDTV. It doesn't make a lot of sense. Hell there is more than enough media between Tivo, DVD's, etc... to keep me busy already. Maybe it would be neat though to encode home videos and watch them. But then I could just burn those to DVD also.
So, actually, you are right, we don't need videos to be available really.
