Xbox 720 to Require Constant Connection To The Internet? |

Microsoft has always been fully committed to its Xbox Live platform, but a new report from Edge claims that we might be seeing that love being taken to a whole new level in Xbox 720. The sources say that not only will we need to have a constant internet connection for the console to be active, but that this measure could also impact the nature of used game sales as well. This could mean a lot for Xbox fans.
In the mentioned Edge rumor report, it was said that Xbox Live will be so integral to the upcoming console that it will need to be active at all times for the console to function. Cited as an example for this need, they say that much like PC games, all Xbox titles will feature a unique serial number that can only be activated on one console. This i effect would mean that like Sony, the fellows over at Redmond have also seen value in cutting short the second-hand game market. This is of course not a real surprise because such suggestions were made even before the Playstation brand decided to file their own patent.

On top of these claims, Edge also ventured ito talking about system specs. Like many other publications have owned up to, the parts are said to include an AMD eight-core x64 1.6GHz CPU, a D3D11.x 800 MHz graphics solution, and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. This would indeed make it a pretty big jump over what we have already been impressed by with the 360. How do you feel about all this speculation? The stats sure look nice, but I don't know about all this talk regarding internet connections and serial numbers.

Funnily enough though, I once sold a load of games and used the money to buy a console which has allowed me to buy more games.
I also rent games which I also use to try games I may otherwise never buy and if I like it enough I may buy it.
There are people as well who have their consoles offline because of their internet setup.
I think this move will potentially cost them (both MS and Sony if they do it) more in the long term.

While I don't like it, I at least understand why they're doing it.
