Bungie is best known as the company that created Halo. And Halo 2 and Halo 3. The games were kind of a big deal. However, Bungie traded the Halo franchise to Microsoft for creative independence, leaving 343 Studios to carry on in its stead and freeing up the studio to create an entirely new IP.

We know Bungie is making something, but don’t really have any idea as to what. There are some minor details slipping out: The project is rumored to be titled “Destiny” and will focus on an open-world sandbox. These rumors seem a little more believable now that Bungie has hired Danny Bulla, who industry followers will know as one of Red Dead Redemption’s senior game designers.

So…sandbox game overseen by the Red Dead guy, due in 2013 for Xbox 360. Sounds like a plan to me.
