Following two-month old rumors, Wal-Mart, EB and Target retail stores have sure enough planted Xbox 360 kiosks in its retail stores nationwide.

When contacted, Microsoft left us with this blanket statement: "Xbox 360 retail kiosks have started arriving at retailers. Due to the nature of the distribution process, not all kiosks are hitting simultaneously, but are continuing to pop up in retailers across the country in the coming weeks. The kiosks are designed for a retail environment and feature game samples, game trailers and product information."

IGN has learned that the Wal-Mart kiosks comprise a 23-inch LCD screen TV, a core 360 unit, and one controller. While we were unable to confirm this prior to deadline, three potential playable demos in the kiosks include Call of Duty 2, Kameo: Elements of Power, and Peter Jackson's King Kong. Considering these three game fell on our top five lists, gamers should get a good feel for the first wave of Xbox 360 games with this mini-lineup.

This retail locator Website has appeared, regularly updating store locations across the nation. After a mere 24 hour period starting yesterday (Thursday, October 20), stores with kiosks have more than doubled on the map.
