UFC Undisputed 3 Fight Simulator Predicts Jones Victory at UFC 140 |

In the video released today, THQ and Yukes have Jon "Bones" Jones beating Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida by knockout in the 4th round. More than ever, UFC Undisputed 3 is incorporating fighter statistics in its engine, and the developers are so willing to stand behind it that they're using it like Spike TV's Deadliest Warrior statistical combat program.
According to their simulations of 25 fights, Jon Jones landed 42% more successful strikes, Machida only KOed Jones once, Jones only submitted Machida once (though he was successful on 61% of his takedown attempts), and 6 out of 7 of The Dragon's victories came by way of decision - which obviously means that Jones won the other 18 fights.
While I'm thinking Jones will take this one and defend his title, this video game can't really serve as much of a predictor. If you watch the video and have played previous UFC games (and are a fan of MMA), you can see the fights come nowhere near replicating the unique fighting styles of these two particularly dynamic fighters. Machida is the most successful karate fighter ever in MMA and Jones is just quirky, unpredictable, and looks like the most natural-born fighter I've ever seen. A game like this really can't replicate either in the current format and plus there's that famous quote, "This is MMA and anything can happen."
UFC Undisputed 3 is due out in February 2012.
