THQ Files for Bankruptcy, Revealing Unannounced Games |
Listed in: News Tags: saints row 4, THQ, thq bankruptcy
Well, it finally happened. THQ has filed for Chapter 11. The upshot of all this, besides the fact that the games some have been waiting for will likely see the light of day, is that some unannounced games have been revealed.
First off, it was revealed that THQ sold off all its assets to Clearlake Capital Group for a cool $60 million. THQ pres Jason Rubin revealed it all in an open letter, saying that many other companies have declared bankruptcy and gone on to really thrive. He cited Donal Trump (of course), Macy's, General Motors, Delta Airlines, and Marvel Studios. He also cited the fact that MGM filed two years ago, yet released The Hobbit and Skyfall - "two of the biggest titles of the year" - this year.
He said that South Park: The Stick of Truth, Metro: Last Light, and Company of Heroes 2 are still coming - so you can still feel safe pre-ordering them. He also mentioned a fourth Saints Row and a Homefront sequel.
Digging into the paperwork, folks have uncovered what the four THQ-owned studios are working on. THQ Montreal is working on a game called "1666," Turtle Rock Studios is working on some sort of co-op action title called "Evolve," Relic Entertainment is working on something called "Atlas," and Vigil Games is working on a title called "Crawler." They're working on Saints Row 4 as well.
Check out a pic of some of THQ's predictions below, taken directly from their bankruptcy filing.
