Awesomenauts is a yet-to-be-released downloadable game from Ronimo Games that has its tongue firmly in cheek and is blatantly inspired and informed by 80s cartoons and toys. It's a side-scrolling multiplayer online battle arena game in which players take on the roles of the Awesomenauts, intergalactic mercenaries with a strange bent.
We've seen space monkeys and hip-hop frogs, and now we have a brain in a jar, Voltar the Omniscient. Voltar was once a brilliant scientist. 500 years ago, however, he was caught in an explosion at an intergalactic power station. All that left is is his brain, preserved in a jar. Of course, he now has a robotic body to go along with it and he also has an army of robotic drones and some psychotechnic powers to keep him in the fight with the other Awesomenauts. Here's a trailer and gameplay video for Voltar.
There's no release date yet, but it will be available for download via XBL and PSN whenever it comes out.
I normally could not care less about a little downloadable game like this, but I must admit the videos have me intrigued. How about you?
