The Digits - Another Microsoft Motion Controller |
Listed in: News Tags: kinect, Microsoft, microsoft digits, motion controller

Here comes some more motion control technology, courtesy of Microsoft. This one tracks finger and hand movements using infrared signals on a wrist-mounted device. It's called the Digits.
Microsoft describes it as "freehand 3D computer interaction without gloves." So less Nintendo Powerglove and more Spider-Man web shooter.
Check out the video of the Digits below courtesy of the Microsoft Research site. It certainly looks interesting and less laggy than the Kinect, for what it's worth. It's also quite clunky right now, but project leader David Kim says he wants the final product to be about the size of a wristwatch and of course wireless.
What do you think of this tech? Is it just a pure gimmick or will it have a real use in gaming and otherwise?

Arms tired yet...?
This is like the trash Power Glove on the Nintendo that didn't last and didn't come back.
People will buy this just to show off to those who don't know what the Power Glove was.
Playstation Eye? Check.
Nintendo Power Glove? Check.
