Team Fortress 2 Hats Worth 50 Million |

First up, $50 million hasn’t been paid on hats, but according to writer Paul Manwaring who got busy with numbers and graphs, the Team Fortress 2 items are valued at that amount; let me attempt to explain.

His calculations come from the fact that hats are found in crates, which are unlocked with keys, and keys can be retrieved for free at the cost of 18 dropped weapons. 30,000 concurrent players each day in Team Fortress 2 are ‘injecting $1.54 million worth of refined metal into the virtual economy’. (Metal makes keys).
The figure, which is apparently a conservative one, comes to a minimum of $52.7 million. Manwaring adds that the figure is "without even taking into account weapons bought in the store, promotional items and more. The true figure is probably double this."
