Spec Ops: The Line is finally out today in the US, so we finally get the final trailer for this thing - the launch trailer. This one's more of the same, showing off main character Captain Walker (voiced by Nolan North, of course) and the Marlon Brando stand-in that you have to hunt down for going rogue. Plus there's all the sand.

The early reviews are in for Spec Ops: The Line and they are mostly positive, though there are a few sticking points. Apparently, what all those videos promising dynamic environments with shifting sands failed to tell us is that those are all scripted events. You get a little prompt to let you know you can shoot out a window to drown your enemies in sand, for example.

The game is also apparently plagued by insane difficulty spikes and a mechanic that puts the melee button and vault-over-things button on the same button, though you may be able to reconfigure this.

It looks like Spec Ops: The Line is getting a solid B so far.

Check out the launch trailer:

Curious to see how this one performs. Not sensing much anticipation from the public, but websites and the press are trying to make it into a big deal.

Intense and unique? There's nothing unique about combat sims. I wouldn't go on what the trailer reviews have said.

I like shooting things as much as the next guy, but I'm getting a little tired of combat sims and soldier soap operas.

There are companies making actual unique experiences on much stricter budgets (Journey).
