SEGA Prepares To Kill Phantasy Star |
Listed in: News Tags: phantasy star online, phantasy star universe, Sega, xbox live
What usually turns me off online gaming in the long run is that fact that the game will eventually die. It’s like getting a dog; you know it won’t last forever. The same can be said for Sega, as they've now realized the imminent doom of the Xbox 360’s Phantasy Star Universe and have announced that they’ll be shutting down the game’s servers on September 7th.

Sega said in a statement that it wasn't an easy decision but there comes a time when ‘we must consider the level of service and support we can provide for an ongoing game and balance those concerns against preparing for the future.’
In other words, they can’t keep supporting a game that’s essentially dying. The game’s PC and PS2 versions had their online support in 2010, leaving the 360 version the only remaining version.
Are you sad to hear this, or will you be making the best of your last few months on the (Phantasy Star Universe) planet?
