Sega admits to making bad Sonic games

Sonic-Generations

Sega has finally realized the error of their ways, but will it stop them from making more bad Sonic games?

"(SEGA has been) making too many Sonic games. The development teams now know what they need to do. The thing we've subsequently found – and it's not rocket science – is that we have two very distinct audiences for Sonic," said Mike Hayes, boss of Sega West. "We've got us lot sitting around the table that's the original fanbase, which is huge, and then we've got a younger audience that just sees Sonic as a good icon but they want a game that's relevant to them. I do acknowledge that the quality of some of the earlier games was certainly not where we would have liked to have been. Now the development teams are very clear where they need to try and craft their games going forward. And actually now they've got the bit between their teeth, it's quite a single-minded process for them to try and improve on that."

So, what will the future of Sonic be like?

"I do think that over the last few years there's been a real uplift. I think we're in a very strong position knowing what's coming next with Generations and Mario & Sonic London. The vision we've got for Sonic beyond is brilliant," says Sonic brand director David Corless.

Check out why Sonic Generations will be skipping Wii U.

Well Duh!
You can't say they came to some sudden realisation that they almost ruined their company mascot's name when thousands of people say they total crap and the rest just have nothing good to say about almost every Sonic game the last decade. and yeah Sonic colors was a step in the right direction but they still done some crap the last few years, and honestly i think has to be truly amazing, and i mean like 90's Sonic amazing if they gonna save Sonic's name, and i think blue's the perfect colour for Sonic for how miserable Sonic would be with what Sega's done to him.

Sonic 4, Sonic 2006 < these two were awful.

Sonic Unleashed day stages are great, Sonic Colours is like SU 2.

Sonic Generations is the best of all.

Sonic Colors on Wii was fantastic. It was like Unleashed only without the night levels and unnecessary gimmicks.

Sonic generations has potential to be the game they should have made years ago.

Although judging by the demo there's still more work that must be done.

Plus I still fear that something will screw it up e.g. a badly made game, gimmicks, etc.

They need to bring it back to the SA2:B days. Now that was a good game!

I was the biggest SEGA fanboy back with the Genesis. Now I can't wait to see them fold and just go away. I know that won't happen any time soon because of how huge they are and their presence in gambling markets but I'm just tired of seeing a crappy company run by uninspired money hungry douche canoes.
