Resident Evil 6 for Xbox to Come on Two Discs |

It’s really not weird at this point for an Xbox 360 game to come on multiple discs. Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3, if memory serves, were both delivered through this mechanism. Still, one has to wonder what exactly Capcom is up to with the double-disc release of Resident Evil 6.

Here’s why it’s strange: The Xbox 360 version of the game will ship on two discs. However, you’ll only need the first disc in order to play the game; according to Capcom, the second is “virtually redundant.” So why ship it in the first place?
As it turns out, the second RE6 disc contains localization stuff for Europe—minor game changes and support for various languages. It’s an odd decision, but I’m guessing it was the only way Capcom could deliver everything to everyone all at once.
Anyway, when you pick up Resident Evil 6, don’t be surprised if you find an extra disc in there. It looks like this only applies to the Europe release, but I’m not 100% on that. Let me know!
