Resident Evil 6 was announced last week with a somewhat unprecedented amount of hoopla via a viral campaign and a lot of details were released. A few more details appeared over the weekend. Many of these details have yet to be confirmed by Capcom, but they're out there in the ether nevertheless. They were briefly on the game's Xbox.com page, but they've since been taken down as of this writing.

First, the co-op. RE6 will be having 2 player offline (and presumably online) co-op, which isn't much of a stretch considering the same was done in Resident Evil 5. It will also have 6-player online co-op, though that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be campaign co-op. It could just as easily be a survival Horde/COD zombie type of mode.

In competitive multiplayer, up to 8 players will be able to play simultaneously. There hasn't been any word on what kind of modes will be available, however.

Other details were posted on the game's Twitter page. Apparently, the game has been in development for 2 years and the dev team is working heavily from fan feedback, including implementing a new control scheme. The feed also stated that the zombies will be "unlike any in the past Resident Evil games" and that the team was focused on keeping the classic Resident Evil survival horror elements in the game.

Resident Evil 6 is out in November.

the 6-8 player multiplayer or w/e will be a random merc mode skirmish battle, and hopefully the co-op mode wouldn't be a "Stuck to the hip" mode where you have to be healed and helped up by your friends, or have to wait for them to progress.

This is stupid because you got around fine with critical damage in the previous games and you could heal yourself whenever you have the sprays or kits. I hate having to rely on other people especially computer characters to progress. Either make a solo survival horror, or a co-op where you split up all the time and only maybe see each other for the boss fights.

You mean that "survival horror feel" they ditched years ago? Yeah good luck with that...
