Did you pre-order Duke Nukem Forever sometime in the last decade-plus? No worries -- your pre-order still stands, says GameStop.

With all the delays and cancellations Duke Nukem Forever has seen, GamePro was wondering this simple question: if someone pre-ordered the game ten years ago, does their pre-order still stand?

Apparently so, as long as the customer still has their receipt:

"With a long-anticipated release like Duke Nukem Forever, we encourage customers who pre-ordered more than a year ago to verify their reservation with their local store prior to launch. Provided the customer has a receipt, we will honor even those pre-orders taken long ago. At this time, we expect that all pre-order customers will receive Duke's Big Package at time of purchase, regardless of when the reservation was made." -- GameStop statement.

Excellent news, but does anyone still have their receipt?

lol. I'll bet a whole 5 people will redeem this.. Fun facts relating to the length of development:

- I was 6 (April 1997) .. I am now almost 21
- I could've gotten married and had a kid

- World of Warcraft did not exist

- Everyone had dial up

- 32MB of RAM was top of the line

- Ocarina of Time hadn't come out yet

- Pokemon Red was kicking ass and taking names (still does in my book!)

- The very first DVD players came out in 1997 when DNF was announced.. they cost over $1000US

This is actually pretty cool of Gamestop, though it is the first time that I can ever recall a game taking this long to be made.

Never thought I'd say this, well done GameStop.

I would hope all of those people would have canceled their pre-orders and gotten their money back at this point. I will never understand why people pre-order games unless it comes with quality freebies. You can often find that new release for less elsewhere the week it comes out; plus you get to avoid the long queue at GameStop. I often hit up a Wal-Mart or Target in the same parking lot and am in and out in less than 10 mins. OR you can get Day 0 delivery from Amazon for 99cents and it often shows up the day before the game's release.
