New Dishonored Footage - Would You Like Some Steampunk in Your FPS? |
Listed in: News Tags: Arkane Studios, Bethesda, dishonored

I must admit, I don't think I'd ever even heard about this steampunk game until I watched this video, but now I'm intrigued. It's been a good six months since any news came out regarding Dishonored, but the guys at Arkane Studios are still plugging away at it.
This new video features footage from the game and a lot of narration from game creators Harvey Smith and Raf Colantonio and reveals how they are trying to avoid the "sameness" trap that so many FPSs fall into. In fact, they often refer to the game not as an FPS, but as a first-person action game. They say that the game will be sandbox-y enough that you can play it as an FPS, but you can also go the stealthy approach Hitman style and only take out your assigned target, rather than an entire city block of people.
Speaking of targets, in Dishonored you'll play as Corvo, a protector of the slain Empress who has been framed for her murder. After said framing, you set out to clear your name and probably kill some folks. You'll have access to a wide range of powers such as possession, short-range teleportation (called "blinking"), and the ability to summon a horde of rats. Good times.
Another couple things worth noting is that Half-Life 2 artist Viktor Antonov is on board for this game and Bethesda is publishing it.
Dishonored is due out later this year.
