2K Sports explained via a representative, "There's no doubt in our minds that Charles is and should always be a key part of the conversation as it relates to who are the NBA's Greatest players of all time. We have a very positive relationship with Sir Charles and while we were unable to include him in-game this year for a variety of reasons, we share everyone's hopes that he may one day appear in our game."

As to what this "variety of reasons" actually entail remain a myster, although it was first spun as a "creative decision" not to have Charles on board. It could have been a pricing issue, or even billing for that matter. Whatever it is, fans are definitely on the losing end for missing out on Charles Barkely in NBA 2K12.

But while we're not getting Charles in the game, at least we're getting a wicked soundtrack for it. Details on the NBA's Greatest roster can be found here.
