Will the next Tomb Raider feature a multiplayer mode?  It’s not official yet, but it might happen.

The Tomb Raider series and its protagonist Lara Croft are getting a reboot that is set to ship on March 5, 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.  The game is sure to feature a new setting, new moves for the sexy Croft, and much more, but the addition of a multiplayer mode is the latest rumor surrounding the upcoming release.

UK retailer GAME apparently leaked the multiplayer feature on a listing for the game posted on its site.  It noted that players would be able to “play a variety of multiplayer modes as Lara's Shipmates or Yamatai's Scavengers.”  That information was quickly taken down, so the existence of multiplayer in the next Tomb Raider is still up in the air.  Square Enix did announce earlier this year that the next Tomb Raider would “change the way you play the game forever,” so it is possible that they were talking about multiplayer being present when the game finally ships.
