MS: Halo isn't an annual thing

With a series of Halo titles coming our way in the last couple of years, one is bound to think that it's turning into one of those franchises that celebrates year on year with a release. Microsoft's Phil Spencer, however, denies this concept.

"People shouldn't look at Anniversary as part of an annualized franchise. I love the fact we're doing the Anniversary edition because I loved Halo 1. We just looked at it and thought it needed to be refreshed. It wasn't part of us trying to get into an annualized rhythm with the franchise," he explained to IGN at last week's E3.

"It will be done in time for this holiday that is the 10th Anniversary for Halo. It felt like a good time to celebrate it." That does not go to follow, though, that they'll be saturating the market with more of these remakes, although he did admit that they did consider Halo 2. "I wouldn't say this is a strategy for us to go back and remake Xbox 1 games."

In fact, it just so happened that the franchise is celebrating its 10th year in existence, hence it feels like there's so much going on with it, cos "it made sense."

"We don't really have a 'remasters' program that we're kicking off with this launch. There are obviously some great Xbox 1 games that would be nice to see, but we've focused most of our resources on creating new things. I'm not putting it in or out of bounds right now, though."

Just yesterday, it was revealed that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be running on two engines simultaneously, and that the new iteration, Halo 4, has been in development "for a long time already", actually.

It wasn't revealed yesterday that the remastered Halo would run on two engines, it was revealed a week ago during an interview with them immediately after the Microsoft briefing.

I always thought Halo was an Anal thing...
Oops sorry did i say that wrong? i honestly didn't mean to imply Halo is the equivalent of something excreted from my anal passage, because at least my shit varies each time but Halo never changes.

why dont you just go back to shoving that boomerang version of the PS3 controller up your slick cunt. Sure enough you're lusting to get raped by your die-hard fangirling sony.

It's very sad when someone doesn't have the intelligence to realise you can criticise 1 of the most unimaginative games ever made and not be some sad fanboy. My opinion of you just dropped a good 8 notches, very sad indeed.

"unimaginative" doesn't spawn 3 novels and multi-million selling sequels. To say that there has been no change is no different than saying Smash Bros Brawl is no different than Smash Bros 1.

You sure? There are plenty of things that are unimaginative things that sell well.

MS = Halo
Nintendo = Mario

So it won't be long till we see a Halo Kart game out there.

2007 - Halo 3
2009 - Halo Wars/Halo ODST (Wars only missed 2008 by 2 months)
2010 - Halo Reach
2011 - Halo Anniversary
2012 - Halo 4

Sounds pretty annual to me.
