Peter Molyneux, known by some as the creator of Fable and by others as the guy who makes enormous promises he can’t keep, has officially left his positions as creative head of Microsoft Studios Europe and “guy who talks at presentations” of Lionhead Studios. The charismatic game developer is venturing into uncharted waters with an all-news studio by the name of 22 Cans.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a Peter Molyneux story without an over-the-top quote, so here’s his confirmation via Twitter:
"I have left the lovely amazing Microsoft and Lionhead. Now for something really amazing, scary and brave a new company called 22 Cans.”
Molyneux noted that he waited until work on Fable: The Journey was complete before switching studios, so Fable fans don’t need to worry about some weird developer stepping in to finish the game. What Molyneux is up to is a mystery, but rest assured that Lionhead and Microsoft will continue to work on Fable games without him.
