If you're still playing Modern Warfare 3 and are an Elite member, you're in luck. If you're not, then maybe now (or in 9 months) is a good time to pick up the gun and get back, as Infinity Award are going to procedurally drop off 'drops' for players, with two multiplayer maps hitting on January 24th for the Xbox 360, and 'at least' one drop a month after that. The total amount of DLC will come to 20.

They'll all be available on 360 first, with PS3 and PC following later, and non Elite members will of course be paying standard DLC fee.  The two maps are called 'Piazza' and 'Liberation', which thankfully will be support competitive and co-op Special Ops.

Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward (who are developing the DLC) says that it wont just be the normal maps and packages; he says they are aiming to do 'more than just traditional multiplayer maps' and mentions a desire to do more Special Ops, new game modes and experiment with idea's. He says whatever works and is most fun, they'll do. I quite like that approach.

No exact dates are announced for the PC and PS3 releases, and the non-Elite drops could be as much as a month after the Elite releases, so Elite members are really getting a head start, with free and early content. Then again, that is $50 a year on top of Xbox Live.
