Independent games developer ProjectorGames has announced that its open world sandbox title FortressCraft: Chapter 1 saw 16,000 sales on its April 8 launch day, becoming the fastest selling Xbox Live Indie Game of all time.

"Over its first 5 days on sale, FortressCraft generated more revenue than the current biggest success on the Indie Games service, I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1, made in the past 12 months," declared the devs.

Last week, the game was the third best selling game on Xbox Marketplace in the US, while in the UK it took the second place, and in Canada it was on the top spot of the best selling list.

"On a service where a trial to purchase ratio of 5% is seen as the norm, FortressCraft has maintained an astounding 70% ratio throughout its first week on sale, disproving the widely held consensus that mid-price range titles struggle to find success on the Indie Games Channel," reads the press release.

"Myself and the team at ProjectorGames would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported the title throughout its development" said DJArcas, founder and CEO, "We hope to continue developing and supporting FortressCraft for many years to come, and are already hard at work implementing changes and features as requested by the community. ProjectorGames will strive to make Fortresscraft the best selling Indie title to date, and has many ambitious plans about which direction it should head in next."

FortressCraft: Chapter 1 is available now on the Xbox Live Indie Games service for 240 Microsoft Points (US$ 3).

That's the whole point behind the project. I have followed development of this for awhile and that's what he wanted to do. Give a minecraft-esque title for the Xbox 360 and PSN (only the strictures set in place by sony suck so he can't release it on there).

Really? I call BS on you following him. From the very begining his plan was to make Dwarf Fortress with a better interface, he even has tech demos. He put it on the backburner because he was at a loss of how to get it to work. After having played Minecraft for a while he saw that methods used in that game would allow him to give new life to his previous work. FortressCraft is the culmination of this.

Chaper 1 is merely the rendering system working and giving the players to do what your minions would normally. Each subsequent chapter will expand on this eventually addind PvP and the aforementioned mentions.

Please don't spread BS when you know not what you are talking about.

You know the idea of Minecraft is based on Another game that has exact the same concept right? Learn facts first before saying things.

maybe not, but THEY made it well known. I believe the people who make it well known are the ones to take credit for it.

It was at first based off of InfiniMiner, I believe. However, that would be the original. Minecraft now is a fully branched off game.
