Microsoft Points Not Going Anywhere...For Now |
Listed in: News Tags: Microsoft Points, msp, xbox live

There was a rumor earlier this year that Microsoft would be getting rid of Microsoft Points and going to transaction using plain old dollars and cents, or whatever your local currency may be. When some avatar items started popping up on Xbox Live priced that way, many who want to see Microsoft Points go the way of the dodo were pretty excited. But then, these avatar items were changed back to being priced under the MSP system soon enough.
Microsoft says it was "an error."
"Yesterday, a few avatar items appeared with an option to purchase with local currency, instead of Microsoft Points," said Microsoft in a statement. "This display error doesn't signal a change in payment options, but rather an error in how the offers were configured in our services which resulted in an inconsistent experience. It is in the process of being resolved."
So MS points are here to stay for now, but might this actually be a signal of things to come, despite what Microsoft says? It seems like they have the architecture in place to make the change.
Would you like to see MS points go away or do you like things how they are?

PlayStation Store should have something like this too.

As much as I dislike Sony, the way they handle it on PSN is infinitely better than the points crap MS uses.
