Microsoft's putting its Kinect technology to good use as it headed off to South Africa to use it as an educational tool.

The video you see here below shows Kinect being at the forefront of interative schooling, taking on the first trials of evolutionary teaching methods.

The teachers, working in partnership with Microsoft, explain to the kids of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, how Kinect works. The visual aids were Dance Central, and the Avatar Edition, for them to better appreciate the interactive ability of Kinect.

With this, it is the aim that the children at this young age will have a better grasp of modern technology, as well as see that there are alternative modes of learning available to them so that they may overcome their own limitations.

Check out the heartwarming video below:

nice to see a corporation like microsoft dig their toes into education. imagine the kinect in classrooms. that should make learning more interactive and fun. no more dull note-takings and boring lectures!

No, I don't buy this crap for a second.. Oprah donated millions to African education. When asked why she didn't spend it on Americans, she said she wanted to give it to people who would be grateful (or something to the effect of using it efficiently). Microsoft should have just donated money. Money to build the schools, for textbooks, not for some gimmick toy that "can be used for learning" aka publicity stunt.

I'm assuming you never paid much attention in your socials or business lessons. It's called BUSINESS. It benefits them and others. People living in that state or really grateful to even have some technology. Not everyone lives like kings and queens.

Oh, this whole Microsoft is not giving money thing is pure bs. Microsoft likes to take our money of our wallet, but let's not forget how much Bill Gates donate his money. Hell, Mr.Gates even persuaded 40 other billionaires to join this donation cause.

It's all just a PR exercise from MS to help advertise Kinect, but if it makes those kids happy who cares about cynical people like me.

yeah, let's teach the kids in africa to dance to a lady f'ing gaga song. how about we teach them instead that women shouldn't have their clitorises hacked off? or maybe, i don't know, to put on a condom when they have aids.
