Most importantly, however, is Microsoft’s decision to stop the development of its project, entitled Project Columbia, a game without much fanfare, let  alone a formal announcement for Microsoft’s Kinect.

While Project Columbia will never get off the ground and fans will mourn the end of an era for Microsoft Flight, even sadder is the staff reduction in Microsoft’s Vancouver outfit. Microsoft marks yet another gaming giant who is re-strategizing and focusing its interests, in perhaps Montreal, which has recently usurped Vancouver as Canada’s video game capital.

Despite the severe staff reduction, Microsoft pledges its commitment to remain in British Columbia, principally in Vancouver and Victoria, in its campaign to reach its long term goals and objectives. Microsoft Flight will still be available for download and support for the games will still remain.

Will you miss Microsoft Flight?
