Max Payne, What Are You Doing On TV?

Ó

I’ve been following Max Payne 3 for a while now, enjoying technology videos, trailers and demonstrations. Now we have the game’s first TV advert.

Premiering last night on ESPN, the trailer has a nice ambient dark feel to it, with slow action and some dark electronica to remind us why this game will be a no brainer.

When it comes to sales and marketing, Rockstar are behind only Activision and Nintendo, as they know their target audience well and manage to rake in crazy sales and, more importantly, crazy reviews (which play into better sales for future titles) through their marketing and advertisements.

That said, this trailer doesn’t quite have the same punch as San Andreas’ Welcome To The Jungle advert over half a decade ago.

The game hits May 15th and will no doubt be something special for gamers, as pre-release previews and playtests have been garnering extremely impressive feedback, one including a bad word.

Are you excited for the game or have Rockstar’s previous titles bored you over time?

Well...the trailer's cool and all but it doesn't actually show what the game is about. For me it's fine, but for people with little or no experience of Max Payne this might not be very convincing.

This looks great. I wasn't so much into the old Max Payne games but this trailer definitely makes me want to have a go at the third installment. It will drown in the Diablo 3 release though, as with all games released around May 15, and will probably only be really popular over at rlslog.

I have a feeling it's the other way around for die hard Max Payne fans since the overall feel of the game is so different. They made it appealing to a wider range of people and the game itself looks cool, I just wish they'd stop calling this "Max Payne" and just change it's name to something like "Die Hard: BAMF in Brazil". I agree with the D3 thing but after playing the beta and comparing it with the hype, I feel it's a little bit overrated..
