An anonymous BioWare employee recently revealed that Mass Effect 4 has been in development for a couple of months and that we should look forward to a "late 2014 to mid-2015" release date. The game will be powered by Frostbite 2, but their still unsure about whether it will be a prequel or a sequel. They have been asking for the fans' help in that matter.
"You'll hear more about the new Mass Effect game in 2013," the BioWare team member said. "I honestly can't tell you an [exact] date because full development on the game started a month or two ago."
It was also revealed that Mass Effect 2 was supposed to feature multiplayer originally and that a visit to the Turian homeworld of Palaven was supposed to be in ME3, rather than the mission on the planet's moon.
"One of the mission ideas that got scrapped was actually going onto Palaven, the Turian homeworld, and being able to see what their world was like," said BioWare. "We also scrapped the original ending for Mass Effect 3. We were gonna have it as a 'boss battle,' where Commander Shepard would go up and fight The Illusive Man who has been transformed by the Reapers. We scrapped that idea because way too [many] games have that as their ending, some final boss fight."
Oh boy.
