Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer Started Out as a Separate FPS |
Listed in: News Tags: BioWare, mass effect 3, mass effect: team assault
Before there was the Galaxy at War Mass Effect 3 co-op mode, there was Mass Effect: Team Assault. Team Assault was a competitive multiplayer FPS set in the Mass Effect universe that was supposed to "sit somewhere between the experiences found in Unreal Tournament and Battlefield 1943." It would have in all probability been a downloadable game.
Team Assault was only in development for about four months before it was rolled into Mass Effect 3 as the co-op mode we're currently learning to know and love...or not. Apparently BioWare hasn't put a nail in the coffin of doing such a game, however. They may consider doing something similar in the future.
Is this - as some are calling it - the most selfless act ever associated with EA? Would you like to see some sort of Mass Effect FPS? Why stop there? What about an RTS or squad-based strategy game? The Mass Effect universe is ripe for plundering after all...
