1. Inon Zur: Dragon Age II was a rush job
2. Really, a rush job.
If there's one person very anxious about BioWare's Dragon Age II, it would be none other than music composer Inon Zur. According to him, this was clearly a rush job on the part of BioWare.

The truth, was, so said he, Electronic Arts wanted to cash in on the success of the first title immediately, that's why they wanted the sequel to come out as soon as possible. Striking while the iron is hot, I believe, is the saying they adhered to in this case.

So said Zur in an interview with IGN Australia, "Sure thing. I'm actually really anxious for the game right now, so I can pop it in and start playing. I'm really looking forward to see it. I know there are a few bugs that still need to be fixed. Unlike other titles from BioWare, this [score] was kind of a rush job."

well for one, they fixed things that are not broken. the overhead camera view has been taken out. you cant change the clothing of other characters. for some people, NVIDIA users, might have some crashes here or there.

I've been playing it for about 10 hours now and I have not encountered any major issues with the game so far. In fact, the game feels a lot more technically sound than Origins did. I noticed some audio hiccups when I was creating my character, and some visual bugs occur around the loading screens, but I also noticed these in Origins and at a more frequent rate.

The framerate and overall stability of the game feels improved upon from the first game and I haven't seen any bugs that have affected or stemmed from the gameplay.

Also, the score is great, so props to Inon for creating it while being rushed to do so.

Overall I think the game is great. Better than Origins? Maybe. Different than Origins? Yes. I love the Mass Effect series so I personally love the changes they've made to the actual game. I understand why people wouldn't like those changes, but I do.

I play Bioware games for the story and the characters and so far DA2 doesn't disappoint. The visuals are improved upon and the gameplay is a lot more fun. Better? Yes for some, no for others... but more fun? I think so. I personally think that tactics are alive and well in DA2, but the action itself feels a lot more rewarding now too.

Like I said, I can understand why some will not like this game as much as Origins but so far the hate for this game is completely uncalled for. Especially this Metacritic nonsense. Not that I take user scores seriously, but it would be nice if these morons would actually play the game before bashing it for changes they haven't even experienced themselves. If they do actually play the game and do not like the changes then they can criticize it in a constructive manner. Blatant, incoherent, illogical flaming will solve nothing.

I think that DA2 is worth a purchase so far, but it absolutely calls for a rent to play it for yourself. It's certainly not Bioware's best game but it's far from their worst. It still offers a lot of great content and the story & characters you would expect from a Bioware game are all present.

Try it and see for yourself. ;-)

Sounds like something EA would do.

Oh, by the way, Mabie decided to leave out one important thing from that interview...

"[Editor's note: Zur is speaking about bugs in the score only; he had no involvement with the rest of the game's development.]"

Misleading much? :-*

I was a tad skeptical about how good Dragon Age 2 was going to be especially after playing the demo. However I can honestly say the demo provided a poor representation of the game.

I've only been playing DA2 for the past 3 hours, yet I've been enjoying it thoroughly, it's not as good as the original DA:O sure. But it's still good in it's own right.

They could rush all they wanted and it wouldn't ship with as many bugs as a Bethesda game :P

While the game play was improved they dropped the ball for the charm and character of the game when I go into the inventory I feel I booted up my Atari 800 all the item icons are so generic and plain no description to deepen the lore. Do you remembet finding Olaf's Cheeze knife. Or the Starfang. Now that is lore. This DA2 took out the what made DAO so deep with character. Now almost everything I find is JUNK with a three word bland description.
Just label everything as used dental floss. At least I can laugh at that.
Yes being in the world is fantastic, but the interface and limitations just takes the effen fun out of it.

I have beaten the game recently.

and I focused on doing all of the side quest on my first play-through, but I made a mistake and antecedently started the final Main Quest and finished the while there where still more side quest and other stuff to do, on my second one now and I'll try not to make the same mistake again.

however it still only took me about 20 hours to go through and I believe i did at least 75% of the quests in the game, not sure though....

and also for some reason non of the Achievements for DLC unlocked mainly talking about "Loyalty of the Prince" and "Memento", even though I did the things required for them

If only Activision bought Bioware out instead of EA. At least then they wouldn't have to worry about appealing to the CoD fanbase.
