Halo Wars was a bigger success than we anticipated, says 343 Industries |

The Ensemble Studios-developed Halo Wars didn't exactly reach the heights that its fellow entries in the Halo video game franchise reached when it came out in 2009. In fact, it was probably one of the lowest profile releases in the entire franchise's history. Still, the real-time strategy take on the Halo universe apparently did better than dedicated Halo studio 343 Industries thought it would.
"The funny thing about Halo Wars is it actually beat our sales forecasts, so it was a bigger success than we expected," said 343's creative director, Frank O'Connor, in a recent interview with CVG. "It was a big critical success and it's still the number one selling RTS on consoles this generation."
"We take risks in the universe and we always have done over the last ten years," he added. O'Connor further stated that Halo Wars is a "successful example" of the many "very cool experiments" that Microsoft has been doing with the Halo universe.
If it's being considered a success, is there any chance for a sequel then? O'Connor said that while there seem to be no plans for the sequel to be green-lit yet, he does have some ideas about how the gameplay could be improved.
"In that regard it was a huge success but is the will to do a sequel there? Who knows," he said. "We could do something that works on Kinect, for example. There's no will against it but we're not working on it right now."

Its only problem is that is was tied to the 360. Put it on PC and a whole world will open up.
