Microsoft has figured out what was going wrong with those users that were gettting banned from playing Halo 4 after downloading the Crimson Map Pack. They say it's fixed now and less than 200 people were affected.

"There was a situation yesterday (Sunday) in which less than 200 Halo 4 users were being incorrectly banned from accessing certain parts of the game (not banned from Xbox LIVE as a whole) and we have since resolved the issue," Microsoft's statement reads. "All players' accounts impacted are working as normal."

Apparently the whole issue stems from an early issue with the game in which War Games Pass owners were being asked to pay for the Crimson Map Pack. The workaround for that issue caused the inappropriate banning. It's the whole "whack-a-mole" thing that pops up with patches and the like occasionally.

So everything should be fine now with Halo 4's Crimson Map Pack.
