Everybody knows Gore Verbinski as the director of most of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but now he and his studio are broadening their interests and getting into making video games, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Blind Wink Productions was founded in 2008 and they are the minds behind the animated film Rango. So they know their way around the visuals of the genre at least. Verbinski has called his studio an "idea house" and says that their goal is to "bring cinematic qualities" to their game projects.
"Xbox 360 gamers can look forward to innovative and creative games from the mind of Gore Verbinski that explore new and exciting gaming territory and take full advantage of our platforms," said Matt Booty, General Manager of Microsoft Studios.
What do you think? While they'll definitely have to recruit some solid developers for the gameplay, it seems like their heart is in the right place. It's also good to see their merely getting their toes wet in going with a Xbox Live Arcade game rather than full retial. On the other hand, it's a Kinect title to maybe they'll be in over their heads.
