Go Lara Go! One Million Play Tomb Raider in its First 48 Hours |
Listed in: News Tags: Crystal Dynamics, Lara Croft, Square Enix, tomb raider
The latest and greatest Tomb Raider shipped earlier this week, and it’s had a pretty good start, notching one million players in its first 48 hours on the market.

Global brand director Karl Stewart dished out the good news regarding Tomb Raider’s launch via his Twitter account. His tweet read:
“Wow, 1m gamers playing in less than 48hrs! @tombraider fans, you're AMAZING Hearing some stores are running low.. more copies are on the way!”
It is not clear whether or not the figure of one million refers to game sales or players participating online, but either way, it’s not too shabby. As you can see from the tweet, there are more copies shipping to stores as well, so if you’ve missed out on a copy, that should change soon.
Tomb Raider shipped on March 5th for the PC, PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360. The release is the franchise’s first core entry since 2008, when Tomb Raider:
Underworld was launched.
Have you played the latest Tomb Raider? How is it?
