Gears of War: Judgment MP Eliminates Down But Not Out |
Listed in: News Tags: Epic Games, gears of war: judgment, people can fly
The devs have confirmed that a key Gears feature, Down But Not Out, will not be featured in Gears of War: Judgment's multiplayer. This is a trademark feature that has been around since the first Gears, in which you don't die when your health is reduced. Instead, you crawl around bleeding out, waiting for a teammate to revive you.
Senior producer Chriss Wynn has confirmed that it will not be making an appearance via Twitter, saying, "yes, DBNO is not in any of the MP modes."
So gone are the days of curb stomps and executions...and humping, teabagging, and smoke grenade tagging - which is what a great many Gears players use it for. You only have to play any of the Gears games' MP for a bit to see this rampant juvenile "humiliation" behavior going on.
It also gives an opportunity for "kill stealing," in which you down an enemy and as you're closing in for the kill one of your teammates comes in and kills the guy before you get a chance. This usually results in hate mail and foul language over the mic. Apparently this is the major reason that People Can Fly and Epic decided to do away with DBNO.
It will still apparently be featured in the single player, as in one of the gameplay videos we've seen there is a character performing an execution.
GOW: Judgment will be out in March.

No matter how good I am at a game I don't do of that stuff. It's idiotic.
