Microsoft and Epic Games announced that the Gears of War 3 pre-orders have topped the one million mark worldwide, making it the fastest pre-ordered Xbox exclusive title to reach the milestone in the history of the platform.

Additionally, the company announced that over 1.29 million gamers from more than 145 countries have joined the public multiplayer beta, culminating to more than 11 million multiplayer matches that could round up to 249 years worth of matches played, with 927 million kills recorded, 131 million executions performed (23 million of which came by way of chainsaw), with players earning 460 million ribbons and 294 million medals to date. From the stats above, 435 thousand people earned the beta exclusive Thrashball Cole skin and a total of 234 thousand people earned the beta exclusive Gold Retro Lancer that can be used in the retail game when it launches in September.
“An overwhelming success – we can’t thank the fans enough,” said Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski. “While the beta was a fun way to give players an early taste of our game, it also provided us with invaluable feedback to help us refine and polish ‘Gears of War 3’ to ensure it’s truly the culmination of the trilogy we promised to the fans.”

Playing the same maps with the same game-types was only fun for a little. I hope the full game turns out to be better.
