GAME to go into new digital market |

So say you own a brick and mortar establishment and you start hearing something called e-Commerce and you really wanna get in on that, but not sure how? What if your same brick and mortar establishment just happens to be in the top 5 video game retailers and could easily strike up a deal with game publishers so you could make money doing "microtransactions"...well guess what GAME are doing?
The company reported losses into the millions with the last financial year. So what are they doing now? Establishing GameWallet. Whilst it is still in beta at the moment with publishers, users will be able to use GAME loyalty cards and eventually points to purchase games online.
Strategy director, Tricia Brennan said about the current market "...Digital games...[are] growing fast, but two things are holding it back: the reliance on customers using credit or debit cards onlinea nd the lack of one-stop shop offering advice...." This is something old establishments are good at, selling to people who don't know any better. Think about when you've gotten a game from a relative, well you know who to blame. But another point Brennan brings up is the one-stop shop ideal. I know for a fact, I have friends who will do and try everything to get the cheapest deal when it comes to games. One time I bought Skate 3, Bioshock 2 and Tron Legacy, altogether $50, to trade in to get Portal 2 with one of their deals, the future will not have this...
Brennan continues on with the scheme "GAMEwallet is designed for the 80% of our customers who are buying digital produts in our stores using their reward points, cash or a trad-in instead of [other transactions] because they want security and control...we want to make digital gaming acessible to everyone, and will introduce new customers to great digital titles and experiences by presenting and recommending the best range of titles in one place", considering some deals that most game developers have with other companies this is nigh on impossible but go on and have a shot. Stiff upper lip and all that.
Dave Etling, VP of product devlopment with InnComm who are partnering with Game on this whole shindig adding that "with online gaming growing...it's important to provide customers with the products and services...etc" basically a re-iteration from Brennan. Gaming is moving at such a fast pace and we already have services that provide everything, but personally, I think GAME is going about this the wrong way...
