EA's Phil Frazier gave some new details about Madden 12's concussion mechanic in a recent interview.

"We're treating the injury more in line to how they do in the NFL," Frazier said. "It's not based on the Hit Stick, though. It's based on the area of the collision."

"So you have to actually hit a guy in the head as part of a tackle for it to even be considered for a concussion, but causing a concussion in the game is rare," he continued. "I'm not sure of the exact numbers, but there were over 25,000 plays called last season in the NFL, and out of all those plays there were only about 200 concussions."

EA is attempting to raise concussion awareness in this next game.

"So in Madden, on any play, there is a .59 percent chance of a concussion happening. It's a very rare injury and it will be rare in the game. We don't have a mechanic in the game that causes a concussion. There's nothing you can do to increase the likelihood of a concussion. We're not going there."

we americans prefer to actually touch the ball when we play football, not spend 3 hours running after it with the hope of MAYBE scoring once.

soccer is so boring that they dont even stop the clock - they just let it run down in the hopes of ending that nonsense that much quicker.

We everyone else in the world actually like some skill in our sports and not just running around for 10 seconds before lack of fitness forces a 5 minute break.

you know why a soccer announcer yells "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AALLLLLLLLLLLLL LL!" when someone scores?

To wake up the audience.

And why do you think they allow alcohol at American sporting events? because things look better than they actually are when you drunk, it's called beer goggles and they make you blind to the fact the game is nothing more than a Human demolition derby.

Yeah, because all those soccer hooligans are just buzzed on sugar and popcorn.

or how about when parts of the stands in soccer games collapse from all the brawls? yeah, i'm sure they're all stone-cold sober.

What makes you think that even Americans care about EA/Madden games. I can't see spending $60 for a yearly roster update, swapping the controller layout, and a new gimmick game mechanic.
I almost hope that the football lockout continues long enough to kill the Madden game franchise.
