EA comments on Australian ratings board

EA's Mark Bradley recently commented on Australia's game ratings board, which has banned R18+ games.

"Australia needs a rating system that recognises that millions of adults play video games," Bradley said. "The current policy of the Australian government forces an arcane censorship on adults who play games--cuts they would never impose on movies, books, or other forms of artistic expression."

"This year, the American Supreme Court voted overwhelmingly to affirm that game developers deserve the same creative freedom as film makers and authors. Today's news is encouraging since continued delays in Australia will keep adult consumers waiting for the right to make their own content choices for entertainment, and increase the risk of adult content being accessed by minors."

I find it a bit ridiculous that Australia's ratings board has such high restrictions. How many of our Aussie readers import R18+ games?

I could always cite links from some very reputed news websites like BBC etc. as evidence but you yourself being an Aussie, know well enough what goes on in that nation of yours. The irony will be with you, always.

um for your information, very little of people in australia are descedants of convicts.
most are desendants of poeple that come here from shit countries such as america, italy, etc.
and america is and will always be the most racist country in the world.

Well if they ban a game thats more reason to download a pirated version.
If I cant buy it on the shelves then I have no choice.
They also try to ban you importing games too so importing is not an option.
There was a big thing at customs to look out for any imports of Mortal Kombat and not let it through so if they are going to that extreme then piracy all the way. :D

What does anyone in America have to say about anything matter?? they/you use loop holes to ban games and trick the thick popualtion into believing they have freedom they dont have. (ie AO rating)
