DmC: Devil May Cry's Metacritic User Ratings - Not Good |
Listed in: News Tags: Capcom, dmc: devil may cry, metacritic
DmC: Devil May Cry just released for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and its overall reception from critics has been pretty good. Users, on the other hand, have been pretty harsh on the title with their Metacritic ratings.

At the time of this writing, DmC: Devil May Cry’s Xbox 360 version has a Metascore of 86 from critics. While that is deemed to be generally favorable, the user score at the time of this writing sits at a measly 3.5 based on 371 ratings, which is anything but favorable. So, where’s the disconnect between the two? Many users have complained that the game’s difficulty is not challenging enough, even in modes where difficulty is amped up. Others have expressed a dislike for Ninja Theory’s characters and the game’s narrative.
Of course, many critics are currently sitting on the other end of the spectrum with their thoughts on Ninja Theory’s reboot of the series. Here’s GameSpot’s Mark Walton’s take on why he gave the game a 8.0 rating:
“Sure, you may baulk at Dante's trendy new haircut, or maybe even miss a little of that B-movie Devil May Cry insanity, but the heart of what makes the series so enticing and so much fun to play holds true here.” He continued, writing: “DmC pulls off that unlikely reboot trick of feeling fresh and inviting while still holding onto what made the original series so appealing and so special. There's no point in looking back: Dante has got a brand-new future in front of him, and if DmC: Devil May Cry is anything to go by, it's going to be a great one.”
