DLC: Disc Locked Content |

Day one DLC doesn't bother me much. On disc DLC doesn't bother me much. And unless you share my views and lack of bother, you’ll be pretty annoyed to see that Capcom’s recently released Dragon’s Dogma, Capcom’s open-world RPG, indeed features a little advertisement pop up on screen, as you’re booting the game up, for DLC.

A pop-up advertisement that intrudes every time you start the game? That certainly bothers me. Rather than the usual feeling of being rewarded for purchasing a game, you’re treated to a feeling of being confronted by someone in the street asking for change, that you’re not living up to what’s expected of you until you cough up the dough.
According to Capcom, Dragon’s Dogma was too late in its development stages to have the day one DLC removed, a policy that’s slowly coming into effect after Capcom said that they’ll be re-evaluating the idea of day one DLC following complaints from gamers about the practice which was prevalent in Street Fighter X Tekken.
What do you think about the practice? Should all developers drop the on disc and day one DLC? Or do you think it’s time-saving way to grab extra features should you need them?

It's people like the author of this post (people who don't giva damn) that are buying the games anyway, if no one buy the games then Capcom and other publishers WILL change how they handle things, but if no one cares and buy it anyway then they will continue with it and eventually come up with new ways of screwing us

If you have extras prepared for day one, put them ON the disc and don't make us pay extra for them. Companies wonder why so many people turn to piracy or buy preowned games.
Are they really that far up their own asses that they don't realise they only have themselves to blame for piracy?
